1) Science & environment:-There are many things around us. We can divide them into “Living things & non-living things”. Living things do Some of the processes that living things do, but not all.  They
have life in them .They are called living things .All plants and animals are living things .As the tree, the man and the cow .Non-living things-Some of the things around us do not have life in them .They are called non-living things .All man made things are non-living things .As the house, pen and table. Living things the plants and animal can grow .A baby grows into a child and a child grows into a man or a woman .A baby plant grows into a big plant, starting from the seed. A baby animal grows into a big animal.
Non-living things can not grow. A small house can not grow into a big house. A small pen can not grow into a big pen. A small table can not grow into a big table. Living things animals can move from one place to another. Plants can not move from place to place. But different parts of a plant can move. Stems move towards light and roots move towards water. The sunflower turns its face towards the sun. When we touch the leaves of a “touch me not” (mimosa) plant the leaflets fold together and the whole leaf hangs down.   Non-living things can not move from place to place by themselves. They need help from others to be moved.
Living things need food. Animals eat their food. Animals need food to live. Plants take in water through their roots and prepare their own food. Non-living things do not need food.
Living things breathe. All animals breathe. We breathe air through our nose. Other animals also breathe through nose. Fish breathe through their gills. Plants breathe through the tiny holes in their leaves. Non-living things do not breathe.
Living things reproduce. They reproduce their own kind. Animals reproduce by giving birth to young ones. Plants reproduce through seeds. Non-living things do not reproduce.
